Peruvian cumbia group La Bella Luz abruptly shortened their concert in Trujillo over the weekend after event promoters failed to pay them.
Group leader Óscar Junior Custodio stepped onto the stage to announce that the band would perform for only 30 minutes instead of delivering their full show, citing a breach of contract by local organizers.
The unexpected disruption began before the performance formally started, when orchestra host José Burga walked out to inform the audience that an outstanding financial matter required resolution.
Stalled start in Trujillo
Burga publicly called on the event promoters to step forward and settle the account with the musical group. To keep attendees entertained while waiting for management to resolve the issue, Burga asked the venue DJ to continue playing music.
Custodio subsequently took the microphone and confirmed that the group could not deliver their full program. He greeted the crowd and explained that although the promoters had failed to fulfill their contract, the group chose to play a brief set out of respect for the fans in attendance.
Audience reaction and shortened set
The announcement triggered visible frustration among concertgoers who voiced complaints over the reduced performance time. Custodio addressed the crowd a second time, emphasizing that the situation was entirely out of the band's control while expressing hope to return for a full show in the future.
Following his remarks, La Bella Luz carried out the 30-minute set as promised before ending the concert abruptly.
