A noticeable magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck off the coast of the Kuril Islands in Russia on Tuesday, August 11, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
The underground tremors occurred at 23:13 local time, corresponding to 15:13 Moscow time. Their epicenter was located 261 kilometers southwest of Severo-Kurilsk, a town with a population of about 2,400 people. The focus lay at a depth of 180 kilometers.
Colombia Earthquake
On the day before, a powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake was recorded in Colombia. Its epicenter was located approximately 240 kilometers from the capital city of Bogota, and the natural disaster killed more than 200 people.
