Keiko Fujimori broadcast skincare advice on a social media live stream while heavy rains caused sewage systems to collapse across several districts in southern Lima.
While residents in Villa El Salvador and Villa María del Triunfo struggled to remove floodwaters from their homes, Fujimori explained her daily facial routine to viewers.
During the TikTok live transmission, a follower named Mercedes asked Fujimori for her secret to maintaining a youthful appearance. Fujimori replied that she does not use collagen, stating that her skin care routine is basic. She explained that she applies sunscreen every morning, and at night she removes her makeup before applying a moisturizing cream.
Drainage Collapse Across Southern Lima
The live broadcast coincided with widespread urban flooding across southern Lima, affecting the districts of Villa El Salvador, Villa María del Triunfo, Chorrillos, and San Juan de Miraflores. The inundation was triggered by a major collapse in the local drainage and sewage networks.
In Sector 1, Group 1 of Villa El Salvador, residents reported raw sewage entering their houses, forcing families to bail out contaminated water using buckets. Multiple vehicles were left submerged and immobilized under the bridges of Line 1 of the Lima Metro.

Response efforts were delayed as flooding spread through major roadways. The Municipality of Lima announced early on Monday morning that emergency teams had extracted more than 45,000 gallons of water from affected streets.
Response to Broadcast Criticism
Fujimori also addressed growing public backlash regarding her decision to host online broadcasts during local emergencies. She revealed that members of her inner circle had urged her to ignore questioning from critics.
She acknowledged that her actions would not satisfy everyone, but defended the live streams as a necessary tool. Fujimori said she preferred maintaining a direct and transparent communication channel with citizens rather than halting her public broadcasts.
Lima Sur encompasses several densely populated residential districts in the southern area of Peru's capital, where infrastructure often struggles during heavy rainfall. Line 1 of the Lima Metro is an elevated urban transit system connecting northern and southern Lima. Government Palace, located in historic central Lima, serves as the official seat of executive power.
Pet Updates at Government Palace
The broadcast concluded with Fujimori answering questions about Panchita, a pet residing with her at Government Palace. She explained that the animal had developed a mild cold and that a veterinarian had been requested to inspect its condition.
Fujimori assured viewers that despite the minor illness, the animal continued to play normally and maintain a healthy appetite.
