Automotive company Kama has launched the production version of its software for the Russian Atom electric vehicle while revealing a multi-year digital roadmap. The announcement outlines digital upgrades planned for the hatchback during 2026 and 2027.
Initial customer deliveries of the Atom EV began in the summer of 2026 for drivers who secured early pre-orders. The vehicles currently run on production software that includes more than 500 user features.
Existing capabilities feature driver assistance systems, augmented reality navigation, voice controls, and connectivity to online services. Software updates are designed to install remotely over the air using Wi-Fi or cellular networks.
Planned vehicle updates
By the end of 2026, Kama plans to roll out a software update introducing automatic parking, adaptive cruise control, and keyless vehicle access. The update will also expand smartphone management capabilities, add new voice assistant functions, introduce video streaming services, and offer additional augmented reality content.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, often referred to as ADAS, use vehicle sensors and software to assist drivers with steering, speed control, and parking safety. Automated parking and adaptive cruise control are standard ADAS capabilities in modern electric vehicles.
Future software expansion
Developers expect to introduce more than 100 additional features throughout 2027. These additions will include seven new ADAS systems, multimedia upgrades, and enhanced navigation tools designed for urban driving.
The 2027 software release will also bring Plug and Charge technology, allowing the vehicle to identify itself automatically at compatible charging stations. In addition, the update will feature smart home integration and expand the mobile application to support remote vehicle control and cabin pre-conditioning.
Plug and Charge is an industry standard that enables an electric car to communicate directly with charging equipment to authorize sessions without requiring separate payment cards or mobile apps. Cabin pre-conditioning allows drivers to heat or cool the interior remotely before entering the car.
Development history
The Atom project originally launched in 2021. Over five years, a team of more than 1,500 specialists progressed from initial platform development to full serial production and customer deliveries.
