Actress Jessica Alba and her 18-year-old daughter Honor have celebrated Honor starting college at Yale University by getting matching tattoos.
Honor posted a photograph of the matching ink on Instagram in July, displaying her hand intertwined with her mother's in the front seat of a car alongside the caption "me x mama."
Tattoo artist WINTERSTONE shared an up-close look at the artwork, which features an eye combined with an infinity symbol. Alba received her tattoo on the outside of her forearm, while Honor opted to have hers placed by her inner wrist.
WINTERSTONE captioned a recent Instagram post: "Matching tattoos with her daughter!" The artist added: "What a way to show love with an unforgettable experience! A memory they will share forever!"
College milestone and high school graduation
The tattoo session marked a poignant moment for Alba, who admitted she is figuring out how to cope with her eldest child heading off to university. "It hasn’t really hit me personally," the 45-year-old told People in an interview published Aug. 19, "but I think for any parent, just that milestone, it’s intense."
"I don’t think you can prepare for it," Alba added. "You just have to tackle it when it happens."
Alba, who also shares 15-year-old daughter Haven and eight-year-old son Hayes with ex-husband Cash Warren, has been emotional about the transition since Honor graduated from high school in May. In a video posted to Instagram on graduation morning, Alba said, "Graduation day. What have we been doing all morning? Well, I've been crying."
Speaking to her daughter in the car, Alba told her: "Honor, you're graduating today and I used to cry on my way to dropping you off to middle school because you felt so big, and now I cry dropping you off to your graduation." Honor turned to the camera and remarked, "Guys, she’s going through it."
The Honest Company founder, known for starring roles in films such as Honey, Fantastic Four, and Sin City, explained her tears by stating "because my baby is the most incredible human in the whole world."
Divorce and co-parenting timeline
The milestone comes after Alba and Cash Warren filed for divorce in February 2025. The actress posted a photograph from her family's Christmas celebrations to Instagram on Dec. 26, 2025, separating from Warren the following day, according to the date listed in her divorce filing.
About two weeks before publicly announcing their split, the pair visited Universal Studios to celebrate the birthday of their son Hayes, who was born on New Year's Eve in 2017. "The best day at #UniversalStudios celebrating our 7 year old, Hayes!" Alba wrote on Instagram on Jan. 3, 2025. "Thank you for having us, @unistudios."
A few days after filing for divorce in February 2025, Alba and her daughters attended the Super Bowl in New Orleans. Two months after the filing, Alba and Warren reunited to celebrate Easter with Honor, Haven, and Hayes in April 2025.
In April 2025, Alba took Hayes on a basketball date, writing on Instagram: "Date night with Hayesie. Epic first @lakers game w my lil man."
Family archives and holiday trips
In June 2024, the family attended a screening of Alba's film Trigger Warning. Honor wore Alba's Prada dress from the 2007 premiere of Valentine's Day in London, while Haven wore her Dolce & Gabbana dress from the 2010 Comicon event for Good Luck Chuck.
Alba shared photos of the outfits on Instagram, writing: "Honor wore my @prada dress from the 2007 premier of Valentine's Day in London & Havie wore my @dolcegabbana dress from Comicon for Good Luck Chuck in 2010." The family also celebrated Hayes' sixth birthday at Disneyland in January 2024. For Mother's Day in 2024, Alba was joined by her mother Cathy Alba and her three children.

In August 2023, the family attended Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert in Los Angeles. The following month, Alba held Hayes' hand as he started his first day of kindergarten in September 2023.

Earlier family memories include Warren and his daughters visiting Hayes in the hospital following his birth on New Year's Eve in 2017, the family dressing up as vampires for Halloween in October 2017, Warren receiving kisses from his daughter in July 2016, and Haven celebrating her fifth birthday with a tropical themed party in 2016.
