Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, announced on Saturday six conditions for the United States to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to Iranian network IRIB, he said Tehran would not back down in war or in negotiations.
Zolghadr said the United States must correct its behavior before Iran allows free passage through the strategic maritime waterway. He noted that the Iranian public has been demanding these steps in streets and squares for 160 days.
Six Demands Issued to the United States
According to Zolghadr, the United States must meet the following requirements:
- Never threaten Iran in any language or insult the sacred values of the nation.
- Permanently end war and aggression against Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq.
- Lift the naval blockade and withdraw all US naval and air forces from Iran.
- Pay full damages for two aggressive wars imposed on Iran without any reduction.
- Lift harsh and illegal sanctions against the Iranian people.
- Unconditionally release frozen and stolen Iranian assets.
Zolghadr reiterated that the Supreme National Security Council will not retreat from these demands during wartime or diplomatic talks.
