The iPhone 12 mini has emerged as the highest-rated smartphone in Apple's lineup based on user satisfaction scores collected by benchmarking platform AnTuTu.
Data published by AnTuTu showed the compact handset achieved a 95.5 percent positive review rating among owners. The ranking reflects direct feedback from device owners rather than hardware performance benchmark testing, and evaluates only iPhone and iPad models.
Apple originally launched the iPhone 12 mini in 2020 as a smaller option within its flagship smartphone series. When first released, the handset faced a cool reception from critics and buyers who cited weak battery life, an absence of fast charging technology, and a high price tag compared to the standard model.
In the years following its release, the phone gained strong appreciation among enthusiasts seeking smaller mobile devices. Owners now view the model as a benchmark for compact and high-performing smartphones. Apple Inc., based in Cupertino, California, designs consumer hardware and mobile software for global markets.
The second-generation iPhone SE secured second place among smartphones in the AnTuTu survey with a 94.78 percent approval rating. Despite drawbacks that include a tiny 4.7-inch screen with bezels, a single main camera, and a small battery, the budget handset remains popular due to a simple construction that allows one-handed operation and pocket carrying.
Older iPad and iPhone models lead rankings
The top overall spot across all evaluated Apple devices went to the fourth-generation iPad Air, which earned a 96.92 percent approval rating. The tablet debuted in October 2020 equipped with Apple's A14 Bionic processor. Support for modern releases of the iPadOS operating system has enabled the device to maintain high performance six years after its launch.
The newest handset listed in the top rankings was the iPhone Air, which took fifth place with a 94.03 percent approval rating. The model is positioned as a revolutionary ultra-thin flagship designed to replace the Plus model. The top-ten list also included the iPhone 16e and the iPhone 8, which was released in 2017.
Apple previously made its final attempt to offer a compact flagship with the iPhone 13 Mini, according to reporting by news agency UNIAN. Low consumer demand for the reduced form factor led the manufacturer to discontinue the Mini lineup after buyers rejected the format.
Upcoming Apple product announcements
A presentation of new iPhones is scheduled for September 9. According to rumors, Apple will for the first time in many years abandon the simultaneous launch of all main models and will not release a base iPhone 18 model.
Alongside Pro models scheduled for release this autumn, Apple is also expected to launch its first foldable smartphone, designated as the iPhone Ultra.
