A Greek police officer was found dead inside an unmarked service vehicle at the junction of Vouliagmenis Avenue and Pikrodafnis Street in Agios Dimitrios, near Athens.
Police sealed off the area and a coroner was expected to establish an initial cause of death. According to reports, the service vehicle was locked and the dead officer had marks suggesting he had been struck in the face.
Partner reported him missing
His partner, also a police officer serving at the Acropolis Security Sub-Directorate, reported him missing early on the evening of Monday, August 10. An alert was issued immediately, and he was found dead in Agios Dimitrios about two and a half hours later.
The Internal Affairs Directorate was informed of the incident, and a team from Greece's equivalent of the FBI was also sent to assist the Security Division's investigation.
