The Brotherhood of the Virgen de las Angustias, patron saint of Granada, Spain, has announced the details of a transfer moving the sacred image to the Parroquia del Sagrario while repair works take place at her Basilica following earthquake damage.
The brotherhood said in a statement that the Floral Offering to the Virgin will take place on September 15 in front of the main door of Granada Cathedral, and that the Sagrario, the cathedral's parish church, will host the start of her annual procession on the last Sunday of September.

The Virgen de las Angustias is one of the most venerated Marian images in Granada and has been the city's official patron since the 17th century. Her Basilica, located along the Carrera de la Virgen, is a major site of religious devotion in the Andalusian city.
How to request a place carrying the image
According to the statement, issued after an extraordinary session of the brotherhood's governing board, members wishing to help carry the sacred image, either as horquilleros or as palieros, can apply at the brotherhood's office on Calle Castañeda on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 6pm and 8pm in person, or by contacting the brotherhood via WhatsApp on 622 289 488 or by calling the office landline, 958 198423.
Those who have made a request must present themselves on Friday, August 28, at 9pm at number 4 Calle Puente de la Virgen, where the different shifts carrying the image will be organized.
Sunday's transfer procession
The brotherhood said that on Sunday, August 30, members, worshippers and devotees are asked to gather at the courtyard door of the Basilica at 6:30am, the point from which the Virgin traditionally departs. The only exception will be the shift assigned to carry the image out, which will enter instead through the courtyard of the Escolanía de la Virgen de las Angustias school.
The brotherhood said the accompaniment will follow no formal protocol and will be carried out with the utmost recollection and piety, while the Holy Rosary is recited along the way. Attire for brotherhood members will be exactly the same as that worn on the last Sunday of September, it added.
The route
The transfer will begin at the courtyard door of the Basilica before following the Carrera de la Virgen, the Puerta Real de España, Calle Mesones, Plaza de la Trinidad, Calle Capuchinas and Pie de la Torre, ending with the Virgin's entry into the Parroquia del Sagrario, the brotherhood said.
