Giannis Tsimitselis returns for Molis Chorisa film sequel

Greek actor Giannis Tsimitselis will return to the role of Petros after 18 years for Molis Xanachorisa, the upcoming sequel to the movie Molis Chorisa.

The new film reunites the original cast, including lead actress Zeta Makrypoulia, following what creators and cast members described as the right time to continue the story.

Speaking to entertainment outlet okmag.gr, Tsimitselis said that 18 years had passed since the original team first came together for the first movie. He described the reunion as nostalgic and very pleasant for everyone involved in the production.

The actor joked about whether the team would continue making a new installment every 18 years, adding lightheartedly that by the time a third film is produced, the cast members might be using walker frames.

Director and production vision

Tsimitselis emphasized the central role of filmmaker Vasilis Myrianthopoulos, stating that everything regarding the project begins and ends with the creator. He explained that adapting the story into a feature film had been a lifelong inspiration for Myrianthopoulos, whose original movie went on to achieve major success.

Both Myrianthopoulos and the rest of the production team are confident that the timing for the sequel is ideal, according to the actor.

Evolving approach to the character

Returning to the characters of Electra and Petros has brought a strange feeling, Tsimitselis admitted. When he made the first film, he had only been working as an actor for six or seven years, which gave him a carefree attitude and innocence toward the work.

With nearly two decades of additional career experience, Tsimitselis said he now approaches the character and his professional responsibilities from a completely different perspective, utilizing his experience to handle the role.

Background of the original film

The original film Molis Chorisa, released in 2008, is a well-known Greek romantic comedy directed by Myrianthopoulos. The narrative centers on Electra, portrayed by Makrypoulia, whose sudden breakup with her boyfriend Petros sets off a series of comedic misunderstandings involving her close friends. Tsimitselis and Makrypoulia are prominent figures in Greek television, cinema, and theatre.
