A body found in the sea west of Symi on Wednesday morning belongs to a German tourist who went missing on Sunday, August 2.

The Hellenic Coast Guard confirmed that the deceased man was part of an eight-member group aboard a sailboat swept by strong sea currents and bad weather off Symi. Search crews rescued seven foreign passengers during the subsequent operation, while authorities conducted an extensive search for the eighth passenger.
Recovery and autopsy transfer
A Hellenic Coast Guard patrol boat recovered the body from the water after officials identified him as the missing passenger. Rescuers initially transported the body to Rhodes, where it was transferred to the Dodecanese Forensic Service for an autopsy.
