The French National Assembly must pay nearly 53 million euros for the renovation of one of its buildings. The project comes during an ongoing search for economic savings across the country.
Petition and Construction Schedule
Heritage defenders have also mobilized against the project. A petition against the disfigurement of Palais Bourbon reached nearly 114,000 signatures on Saturday evening.
If the procedure reaches completion, work is not expected to start before May 2027, following the presidential election.
