The French government has authorized the use of autonomous delivery robots on public roads, marking a first for the European Union.
The driverless machines are fully electric and will travel on the roadway itself, operating day and night to supply shops and individual customers, according to the report.
Questions over liability
The technology is heavily regulated and attractive for its profitability, the report said. But it has already raised questions about who would be held responsible in the event of an accident.
