A three-year-old girl died after her head became trapped inside a toy kitchen at a babysitter's home in Florida, according to a report by The Sun. The girl is believed to have been trying to retrieve toys that had fallen inside the play structure.
Boynton Beach police said officers were called to the Meadows of Boynton Beach community shortly after 11 a.m. on July 23, 2026, after a report of a child who was unconscious and not breathing. Officers began resuscitation efforts before firefighters took the child to a hospital in critical condition.
Child died four days later
Despite doctors' efforts, the three-year-old died four days later, on July 27, 2026, the Boynton Beach Police Department confirmed. The girl and a sibling were reportedly staying at the babysitter's home when the accident happened.
The babysitter had reportedly left, leaving the children in the care of her husband, who police said was upstairs and came down periodically to check on them and give them food. During one of those checks, he found the toddler with her head trapped in the toy kitchen, freed her and tried to revive her, but it was too late. Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances, according to The Sun.
