Spanish model Fabio Agostini called team captain Patricio Parodi treacherous during the live broadcast of Peruvian reality competition show Esto es Guerra on August 18 to provoke his rival upon returning to the series.
Agostini joined the Combatientes team after show producers asked him to select his preferred squad, launching a direct verbal attack against Parodi before opening his team envelope.
Speaking to cameras from entertainment program Mas Espectaculos, Agostini said his objective was to establish his presence immediately before the captain of the rival Guerreros squad. He explained that he sees ambiguous, double-dealing attitudes in Parodi, which motivated him to provoke his rival so Parodi would know he had arrived.
On-air confrontation
The clash occurred live on air when production asked Agostini which team he preferred to join before choosing his envelope. Agostini declared that he wanted to join the Combatientes because he had started with that team, adding that he did not like being around treacherous people like Parodi, whom he referred to by his nickname Pato.
Agostini concluded by advising Parodi to leave the show if he could not tolerate his direct communication style. He stated that he is very direct and says what he thinks, adding that if Parodi did not like it, he should return to Rio de Janeiro.
Reactions from hosts and captains
Program host Katia Palma reacted to Agostini joining the Combatientes by asserting that his presence would generate internal conflict with team captain Pancho Rodriguez.
Rodriguez minimized the warning, asserting that both men are approaching this new stage with greater maturity. He said Agostini is no longer the young man he once was, calling him a mature and intelligent person who understands the competition, and recalled telling Agostini they would have a good time together.
Esto es Guerra is a long-running Peruvian reality television competition series where opposing teams compete in physical challenges. Agostini, a Spanish model, and Rodriguez, a Chilean television personality, have both previously featured on Latin American competition shows, while Parodi serves as a veteran captain for the Guerreros squad.
