‘Together’, the new album by Los Niños Cantores de Viena

The Vienna Boys Singers, the most famous and most traveled children’s choir in the world, has recorded during the pandemic, which has forced it to cancel all its tours since 2020, a new album under the motto “Together” (Together, in English), featuring 19 popular hit songs from around the world.

In a statement published this Monday, Gerald Wirth, artistic director of the choir, highlights that the singing children were inspired “by the theme of cohesion” when choosing the pieces for the album, conceived as “a response to the pandemic” of the covid.

“It is a theme that has accompanied us all during this time, because only together can difficult moments be overcome and rekindle the spirit and joy for new things,” he explains.

Thus, they have opted for songs that show “how different cultures mix, how music actually achieves the same in all cultures”: “Representing the emotions that connect us to humans. That is universal and has tremendous power, ”he adds.

The recorded pieces are “known and loved in many countries” and most of them marked a debut for the Viennese choir, as they had never been performed before.

These include, for example, “La Paloma”, “On the Road Again”, and the song of sailors “Wellerman”, very popularized on social media during the covid pandemic.

The album, published by the Deutsche Grammophon label, will go on sale on November 12 in German-speaking countries and on December 10 worldwide, although it can already be ordered in the choir’s online store at a price of 18 euros. (AND)
