The wildfire in Las Peñas de Riglos has consumed 16,600 hectares of land as unfavorable weather conditions complicate extinction work across most of the perimeter. The evacuation of 25 residents from Bernués to Jaca brought the total number of displaced municipalities to 19.
Firefighting operations remain active across much of the border, where shifting weather continues to influence the magnitude and evolution of the blaze. Emergency teams are managing a provisional affected area that has reached 16,600 hectares.
Right Flank Operations and Threats
The primary concern centers on the entire right flank, which remains active from tail to head. Erratic wind changes in these sectors are creating unpredictable fire dynamics that compromise firefighting maneuvers.
Crews are particularly concerned about the upper section of the right flank, which could advance from Atarés toward Monte Oroel. Concerns also focus on the lower portion of Anzánigo alongside Centenero, where emergency responders have concentrated significant resources.
Crews are deploying heavy machinery, technical fire, aerial support and direct attacks against the flames. Strategy includes repositioning resources to prepare evening maneuvers combining technical fire, aircraft and heavy machinery.
Perimeter Security and External Support
Crews are working to consolidate the perimeter toward Puente la Reina, Binacua and Santa Cilia. The left flank from the tail to Bailo is secured, while defending Santa Cruz de la Serós and other urban centers remains a strategic priority.
The Aragonese Executive has requested assistance from France to supply aerial and ground resources. The regional government also asked the Spanish central government for additional Military Emergency Unit personnel and several Spanish Army bulldozers.
In areas where fire intensity has decreased, officials have organized convoys so evacuated residents can briefly return to feed livestock and collect personal belongings.
