Industrial activity in the Basque Country increased by 10.4% in the first 11 months of 2021

The evolution of Basque industry has been positive in all the territories, especially in Gipuzkoa, and in all the large industrial sectors.

The industrial production of the Basque Country in November last year a 6,6 % with respect to the same month of the year 2020, in homogeneous terms of the working calendar, and the accumulated increase in the First 11 months In 2021, the industrial production index stood at 10.4%, according to data prepared by the Basque Institute of Statistics, Eustat.

The evolution of the index in November 2021 with respect to the same month in 2020 was positive in all territories (with Gipuzkoa leading the way, with 9.1% compared to 6.9% in Álava and 3.9% in Bizkaia ) and for all major industrial sectors. In this way, Consumer goods as a whole presented an increase of 17.9%, with a rise of 19.0% in durable consumer goods (furniture and household appliances) and 17.7% in non-durable consumer goods (food, hygiene and cleaning and clothing, among others).

The equipment goods (manufacture of motor vehicles, or aeronautical or naval construction), for their part, increased 8.6% in relation to November of the previous year.

Finally, the Energy (electric power and oil refining) rose 7.3% in year-on-year terms, while the intermediate goods (metallurgy, metal products manufacturing, chemical industry and plastic products manufacturing) experienced a rise of 2.2%.
