The publication also notes that in the 36 hours that have passed since the start of active hostilities, the leadership of Ukraine has not reported significant progress. According to the newspaper, this suggests that the current stage of the conflict is “significantly more complex.”
The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking about the beginning of the offensive of the Ukrainian army, announced the heavy losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the failure of Kyiv’s attempts to achieve its goals. At the same time, he acknowledged that the offensive potential of the Ukrainian army has not been exhausted.
CNN and Bloomberg reported on the heavy casualties the Ukrainian army faced in the early days of the offensive, with some successes. The interlocutor of the agency admitted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting “reconnaissance in force” – they are trying by their actions to find weaknesses in the Russian defense.
