Tapia: “The energy saving decree is a small part of what we have to do; we still have a lot to do”

The Minister for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment insists that issues such as gas consumption in Basque industry, mobility or water consumption must be addressed. The Basque Government will complete this week the draft of its own contingency plan.

The Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment of the Basque Government, Arantxa Tapiahas ensured that the energy saving measures included in the decree of the Spanish Government are a “small partimportant, but small of what touches us from now on”. Tapia considers that still “There is much to do” and he has cited as issues to address the need to reduce gas consumption by Basque industry, mobility, the minimum possible consumption of water or recycling, something that in Euskadi “we have been working on for a long time”.

In an interview granted to the Radio Euskadi program “Boulevard”, he stressed that now “we have to work hard” to reduce consumption in the face of “a winter that is expected to be complicated”, for which he assures that the decree, which affects “very concrete” is “a tiny part of all the actions we have to carry out”. Thus, he has revealed that the Basque Government is finishing preparing, together with county councils and town halls, your draft contingency plan for private users and for industry. The plan, the counselor specifies, “will be shared with all the agents involved before Friday and we will receive the contributions to send it later to the Ministry”, so that it can then draw up the plan to present in Brussels.
