The Polish airline confirmed the removal of Dyachenko from the flight due to Russian citizenship

The Polish airline LOT has confirmed the removal of tennis player Vitalia Dyachenko from the flight due to Russian citizenship. Representatives of the organization are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“LOT Polish Airlines could not accept a citizen of the Russian Federation on its flight, acting in accordance with the decree of the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of March 13, 2020 on the temporary suspension or restriction of border traffic at certain border crossing points,” the statement said.

On April 24, LOT employees did not let Dyachenko on a flight from Cairo to Warsaw, citing the airline’s rules. The athlete said that she had to stay at the Egyptian airport for 18 hours. Because of this, she missed the competition in Nice, where she planned to get with a transfer in Poland.

32-year-old Dyachenko is ranked 250th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) ranking. She has one title in the tournaments of the organization in doubles.
