Three unions representing EasyJet France flight attendants and stewards have filed a strike notice covering August 7 to September 2, the day after the September 1 school start.
In a joint statement published Tuesday, the unions said the notice was deliberately left open to cover the entire period, and that key mobilization dates would be announced 48 hours in advance.
Unions cite worsening conditions
The unions SNPNC-FO, UNAC-CFE-CGC and UNPNC-CFDT denounced chronic schedule instability, last-minute changes, imposed trippings involving back-to-back flights over several days, particularly punishing rotations, and a total absence of protective measures. They said working conditions have continuously deteriorated and accused management of failing to provide concrete, committed responses despite being alerted for nearly a year.
A previous EasyJet strike call for Easter Monday in April had only limited effects on air traffic. EasyJet is France's second-largest airline by passenger numbers behind Air France, operating mainly short- and medium-haul routes with several thousand French employees, including many cabin crew, from bases including Paris, Lyon and Nice.
