Dragon Ball Daima main screenwriter Yūko Kakihara revealed that the series limited its run to 20 episodes to remain faithful to creator Akira Toriyama's work. The anime premiered on October 11, 2024, leaving a strong impression while surprising fans accustomed to longer series like Dragon Ball Z.

Kakihara said that she and the production team at Toei Animation originally planned to produce a longer show. However, the creators chose to avoid inventing unnecessary material, resulting in a short story with no filler episodes.
Demon Realm Storyline
The story begins with a secret conspiracy executed from the shadows of the demon realm. The new demon king uses the Dragon Balls to make a wish that turns Goku and his companions into children.
The transformation forces the heroes to adapt to their smaller bodies. Goku must retrieve his classic magic staff so he can handle himself in combat just as he did in past battles.
To turn everyone back to normal, Goku travels into the unknown and dangerous demon realm. Old acquaintances and new allies join him on the mission, bringing back the adventure, exploration, and comedy of early Toriyama works.
Streaming Platforms
The complete 20-episode anime is currently available to stream on platforms including Crunchyroll, AnimeBox, and Netflix. Because of its shorter length, viewers can complete the entire story in a brief amount of time.
