Greek communist leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas performed a traditional zeibekiko dance at a party rally on Sunday following the death of folk singer Lakis Chalkias.
The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece took to the floor when the song I Fabrika played during the event.
Chalkias, whose music is closely tied to Greek working-class movements, passed away last week. His song I Fabrika has long been a staple at gatherings organised across Greece by the party and its affiliated trade union movement, the All-Workers Militant Front.
Footage of the dance quickly gained attention online after being posted to the video-sharing platform TikTok by user @nikoswolf_. The user wrote that any party gathering was bound to feature a tribute to Chalkias, adding that it was impossible for the party secretary not to stand up and dance.
