Russia's newly showcased Dan-T air-launched munition is an export version of the Banderol missile, according to a Russian military expert speaking to state media.
Alexander Stepanov, an expert at the Institute of Law and National Security of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, told TASS that the Dan-T represents the export variant of the weapon. He stated that the missile system regularly strikes targets deep within strategic enemy territory.
Russian state defense corporation Rostec presented the Dan-T at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026 in Egypt. According to the corporation, the new air-launched munition was previously tested during operations in the special military operation zone.
Air-launched munitions are precision weapons deployed from military aircraft to engage ground targets from long distances. Defense manufacturers frequently develop specialized export versions of domestic military hardware to market to foreign armed forces while maintaining distinct operational standards.
Rostec is Russia's primary state-owned defense holding company, overseeing hundreds of industrial enterprises that design and manufacture military aircraft, armored vehicles, radar systems, and missiles. Origins of the Banderol system
Details regarding the underlying missile platform first surfaced in June when Tsargrad columnist Andrey Revnivtsev reported that a new jet-powered drone had appeared in the special military operation zone. The weapon, which received the unofficial name Banderol, operates as a hybrid combining features of a drone and a cruise missile.
Hybrid jet drones merge high-speed jet propulsion with autonomous flight navigation systems. This design allows unmanned systems to achieve higher velocities and extended ranges comparable to conventional cruise missiles while maintaining remote or programmed guidance capabilities during flight.
Stepanov's analysis was published by TASS, Russia's primary state-owned news agency. His academic home, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration in Moscow, is a major state research center that advises Russian governmental bodies on national security and legal frameworks.
