The sky show begins with a partial eclipse at 19:33 local time. Totality starts at 20:28, reaches its maximum eclipse point at 20:29, and ends at 20:30. The visible eclipse concludes at 21:20 as the Sun sets.

More precise astronomical data indicates that totality begins at exactly 20:28:16, reaches maximum alignment at 20:29:08, and finishes at 20:30:00. Sunset in Burgos is expected at precisely 21:20:29.

Mirador del Parque San Isidro gives skywatchers an accessible, elevated urban option inside the city. Mirador El Montecillo provides another elevated point within Burgos for observers who prefer to stay in the city.

Mirador del Arlanzón offers a good space to observe the sky, though viewers must verify that the west-northwest line of sight is clear of obstructions. Poza de la Sal is one of the locations officially selected by Castilla y León for observing the eclipse.

Hacinas is also part of the official network of observation points set up across the province. The towns of Lodoso, Quintanarraya, and Tejada have been officially selected as well, sitting directly inside the path of totality.

Safety instructions for viewing

Observing the total solar eclipse safely requires specific precautions during its different phases. Eye protection must be used whenever any portion of the bright solar surface remains visible.

During partial eclipse phases, viewers must wear special eclipse glasses or use a solar viewer certified under the ISO 12312-2 standard. Protective eyewear must be put on before looking directly at the Sun and kept on while any part of the solar surface is exposed.

Standard sunglasses do not provide adequate eye protection regardless of how dark the lenses appear. Viewers should also inspect certified solar viewers for any physical damage before use.

Conditions change during the phase of totality, which begins when the Moon completely covers the solar disc. Spectators may remove their protective glasses during this brief period to look directly at the darkened sky and the solar corona.

Viewers must put their certified eclipse glasses back on immediately when totality ends and the first flash of sunlight reappears. Looking directly at the Sun when any part of its bright surface becomes visible again can cause severe eye damage.
