A hacker has put 70 GB of engineering documentation related to Boeing 737 and 787 aircraft production up for sale on the darknet. The seller is asking around $200,000 for the archive and stated willingness to negotiate the price.
The alleged source of the leak is SEKISUI Aerospace, a US company belonging to Japan's Sekisui Chemical. SEKISUI Aerospace manufactures aviation components from composite and thermoplastic materials and acts as a supplier for the Boeing 737 and 787 programs.
Leaked Engineering Files and Technical Data
According to the seller, the archive contains working PDF drawings, engineering STEP files, 3D models, material and component specifications, production tooling data, and manufacturing process descriptions. The files reportedly feature real Boeing catalog numbers and details covering fuselage, wing, structural, and interior elements, alongside assembly tooling models and specific production steps.
Some documents reportedly carry markings linked to US export control. If authentic, the sale could pose cybersecurity risks and compliance problems regarding US restrictions on technical data transfers.
Affected Aerospace Suppliers and Partners
SEKISUI Aerospace also works with Spirit AeroSystems, Triumph Group, NASA, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman. However, there is no confirmation that the leak affects confidential materials from any of those organizations.
