Apple Beats Microsoft on Tech Value, Domingo Gomes Says

Technology expert Domingo Gomes says Apple has become one of the best value-for-money tech companies in 2026 following price comparisons with Microsoft. For years, Apple carried a reputation as one of the most expensive brands on the technology market, but Gomes noted that consumer perceptions are beginning to shift after analyzing recent product pricing and specifications across major manufacturers.

The big surprise of this computer is that it does not come with an M-series processor, but with the Apple A18 Pro.

Gomes explained that he began investigating the market after reviewing Microsoft's latest Surface announcements for business customers. Microsoft presented new Surface models with 16 GB of RAM, while also announcing an 8 GB RAM model scheduled for release at the end of the year at a price of $1,299. Gomes expressed surprise at that configuration and pricing structure, comparing it directly to offerings in Apple's current retail lineup.

Buyers visiting an Apple store can find a MacBook Air with 16 GB of RAM for $1,100, according to Gomes. He added that consumers looking for an 8 GB laptop could choose the MacBook Neo, which costs practically half as much as the competing 8 GB Microsoft device.

Microsoft Surface and MacBook Price Comparisons

Following these price comparisons, Gomes said the technology landscape is changing rapidly as Apple begins offering a far more competitive balance between price and performance than many consumers expect. He emphasized that the trend extends beyond laptops to several other product categories in Apple's lineup.

The roles are reversing in the technology market, according to Gomes. He highlighted the Mac Mini as one of the best mini PCs available on the market today and stated that Apple's iPhone hardware outperforms Google Pixel phones. He also pointed out that Apple laptops arrive with higher memory configurations than some competing Microsoft computers.

Hardware Performance Against Google and Microsoft

Gomes also criticized Microsoft's recent marketing and comparative research strategy. Microsoft recently sponsored a research study that pitted four Windows computers against the new MacBook Neo, according to Gomes. However, all four laptops in that sponsored test featured 16 GB of RAM, making Microsoft's subsequent announcement of a $1,299 laptop with only 8 GB of RAM difficult to understand.

Criticism of Microsoft Marketing Strategy

Gomes noted that Microsoft chose to launch an 8 GB RAM computer just months after running tests with 16 GB RAM machines. He called Microsoft's decision hard to comprehend when rival manufacturers already offer higher hardware specifications in lower-priced computers.

While Apple remains a premium brand rather than a low-cost option, price increases by competing manufacturers have narrowed the cost gap significantly. Gomes concluded that Microsoft's strategy was absurd and disappointing, while Apple's lineup has unexpectedly become one of the best price-to-quality options currently available.
