Apostolia Zoi Details Mother's Final Battle With Cancer

Greek singer Apostolia Zoi spoke about her mother's fatal battle with cancer during an online interview with Nancy Paradeisanou. She recalled how initial optimism from doctors quickly gave way to a sudden and irreversible decline in her mother's health.

Zoi described learning about the dramatic turn in her mother's condition just one week before a scheduled show premiere. Although early medical examinations had come back entirely clear, doctors informed her that her mother's health had deteriorated rapidly and that they were losing her by the hour. Zoi said the news felt as if the sky had fallen on her head.

Diagnosis before show premiere

Following the news, Zoi expressed a desire to cancel her performance. However, her mother questioned why she was not going to work. Zoi's sister reassured their mother that Zoi would go later and that the venue had no problem with the delay.

Zoi and her sister chose to hide the full severity of the illness from their mother, noting that they ended up doing the exact things they had previously mocked. She explained that her mother was not ready to hear the truth. According to Zoi, her mother remained unaware of her condition for a long time, but passed away shortly after she finally realized what was happening.

Life after loss

Reflecting on the days immediately following her mother's death, Zoi described the period as entering a completely different life. She recalled walking down the street and wondering if the people around her were happy or doing well.

Zoi added that she found herself watching people wearing black clothing, questioning whether they wore it out of mourning or simply by choice. The photo accompanying the report was credited to NDPPHOTO.
