Lawyer Amal Clooney arrived at the Temple of Olympian Zeus in Athens shortly before 6:30 p.m. for a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors meeting. The gathering marks the first time the organizational meeting has taken place outside UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

Alamuddin, who has been staying in Athens since Tuesday evening, met earlier in the day with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas. She also held separate meetings with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his wife, Mareva Mitsotaki.

Focus on artificial intelligence

The event in the Greek capital focuses on the central theme of artificial intelligence and culture. President Tasoulas attended the opening event alongside several other prominent figures from the Greek political scene.

Alamuddin delivered a greeting during the event at the Olympieion. Culture Minister Lina Mendoni and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Constantza Sbokou-Konstantakopoulou also addressed the gathering. The meeting was hosted in Athens on the initiative of Sbokou-Konstantakopoulou, who serves as goodwill ambassador for the protection and promotion of culture.

UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, is a specialized agency dedicated to promoting world peace through international cooperation in education, arts, sciences, and culture. UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors are high-profile public figures who advocate for the agency's global initiatives and cultural heritage efforts. The agency has maintained its central headquarters in Paris since its establishment.

The Temple of Olympian Zeus, commonly known as the Olympieion, is a former colossal temple in central Athens dedicated to Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods. Alamuddin is an international human rights lawyer and legal advocate who specializes in public international law and international criminal justice.

Official dinner at Acropolis Museum

The itinerary for the visit concludes in the evening with an official dinner scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at the Acropolis Museum. Prime Minister Mitsotakis will attend the dinner alongside his wife, Mareva Mitsotaki, who is scheduled to deliver a speech to the attendees.

The Acropolis Museum is a prominent archaeological institution located near the base of the Acropolis in central Athens. The museum was built to house every artifact found at the ancient archaeological site of the Acropolis and its surrounding slopes.
