Speaking on a recent episode of the Malev's Book Club podcast, the author said women should focus on personal growth out of a sense of self-preservation and to avoid becoming uninteresting.

Tsypkin warned that many women aged 40 to 50 find themselves without employment or financial resources after going through a divorce. He added that husbands often take everything in such situations, describing it as a sad story that he has personally witnessed on many occasions.

Portrayal of women in literature

The author noted that he is not a misogynist and always portrays women in a complimentary light in his literary works. He explained that his plots feature numerous strong female characters because his own mother and grandmothers possessed those qualities.

Tsypkin stated that it is absurd for a Russian man not to praise women, remarking that a Russian woman is capable of carrying the burden of even the most hopeless alcoholic.

Alexander Tsypkin, who was born in Saint Petersburg, initially built a successful career in public relations and corporate communications before transitioning to writing. Today, he is one of the most commercially successful contemporary authors in Russia. He is best known for his satirical short stories exploring the complex relationships, moral compromises, and social dynamics of the Russian upper middle class.

He gained widespread recognition as the creator of the Unprincipled Readings project, a popular literary and theatrical series where prominent actors read modern prose to live audiences in theatres across the country.

Screenwriting success

In addition to his prose, Tsypkin has achieved significant success in television and cinema. He is the screenwriter behind several well known Russian television series, most notably the hit comedy Unprincipled, which chronicles the scandalous lives and infidelities of wealthy residents in Moscow's affluent Patriarch Ponds district.

Despite his high profile and commercial success, the writer recently revealed that he rarely faces criticism for his work. He explained that he is largely shielded from negative reviews of his creative output and sees no reason to spend his time reading them.
