Alexander Myasnikov Outlines Health Benefits of Beer

Russian doctor and television presenter Alexander Myasnikov has claimed on Telegram that drinking a 330-millilitre glass of beer can benefit human health.

Writing to his followers on the messaging platform, Myasnikov explained that a standard small portion of beer contains B vitamins, potassium, magnesium, and silicon. He stated that these specific nutrients support the maintenance of connective and bone tissue in the human body.

Myasnikov added that the malt and hops used during the brewing process contain polyphenols, which help protect cells from structural damage. Polyphenols are naturally occurring plant compounds widely recognized in medicine for their antioxidant properties that help neutralize cellular harm. Myasnikov is a well-known medical commentator in Russia who regularly shares health advice on public broadcasting channels and digital platforms.

Surprising dietary recommendations

According to the physician, beer is not the only item traditionally viewed as unhealthy that can offer dietary value. Myasnikov identified fried potatoes as another food that can be beneficial when prepared properly.

He explained that using young potatoes with their skin left on, boiling them first, and then frying them lightly in olive oil rather than overcooking them yields a meal rich in fibre, vitamin C, and vitamin B6. The doctor described this specific preparation method as a dream for anyone following a healthy lifestyle.

In addition to potatoes, Myasnikov stated that homemade sausages and butter can also provide health benefits for the body when included in a person's diet.

World Health Organization warnings on alcohol

The physician's statements regarding the health advantages of beer contrast with official medical guidance from the World Health Organization. According to data from the global agency, there is no safe dose of alcohol consumption for human health.

The health organization notes that alcohol is a recognized carcinogen capable of causing physical harm at any volume, regardless of how small the portion may be. As the specialized public health arm of the United Nations, the agency maintains that any alcohol intake carries health risks.

Advice on preparing pasta

The comments on traditional foods follow earlier advice from chef Gleb Astafyev on methods to make pasta healthier. Astafyev identified a specific cooking technique, explaining that pasta becomes more beneficial to health when it is not cooked to full readiness.
