Dominican musician Alex Buena Junta has entered a new phase of his career by launching a renewed bachata music project from Nashville, Tennessee.
The artist is blending traditional Dominican roots with contemporary influences to deliver a mature, personal sound in the American city famous as a global music hub.
As part of this musical transition, Buena Junta is preparing to release a new album titled Historias de Amargue Vol. 1. The 10-track production features original bachata compositions written entirely by him that explore stories of love, heartbreak, and everyday life experiences.
Bachata, a genre of popular music that originated in the Dominican Republic, relies heavily on guitar melodies and rhythmic percussion. Buena Junta has developed a distinct guitar-playing style that has drawn attention from local musicians and industry figures across the Tennessee capital.
New Music Collaborations
One of the lead releases from the upcoming project is "Bonita y Decente", a collaborative track with urban artist Mark B. The single combines traditional bachata vocals with urban music elements, with Mark B co-writing the sections he performs.
Continuing his commitment to opening doors for emerging artists, Buena Junta has also recorded a duet titled "Lo que Él No Te Puede Dar" with singer Yenmiily. Based in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic, Yenmiily was selected for the track due to her vocal quality, artistic potential, and deep connection to the genre.
Roots and Industry Recognition
Buena Junta was born and raised in a humble, hardworking family in Los Cambrones, a community in Mao within the Valverde province of the Dominican Republic. Although his parents were not musicians themselves, music filled his childhood home and inspired a passion that eventually became his profession.
Over his career, the performer has built a diverse musical repertoire by collaborating with prominent Dominican figures, including Ramón Orlando, Edilio Paredes, Diomedes and Grupo Mío, Bonny Cepeda, Toño Rosario, and Jandy Feliz, alongside several urban artists.
Since establishing his presence in the United States, Buena Junta has gained steady recognition in the local scene, winning the award for Best Tropical Music at the 2024 Latino Talent Awards (Premios Talento Latino 2024). His international trajectory also includes a private performance for Andrew Swaby, the Mayor of Kingston, Jamaica.
Through Historias de Amargue Vol. 1, Buena Junta aims to consolidate his evolving artistic identity while sharing Dominican culture with broader audiences from his base in Nashville.
