Sahra Wagenknecht, founder of Germany's Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) party, said the militarization of Germany is not helping end the conflict in Ukraine and is putting Europe's security at risk. She made the comments in an article for the newspaper Ostdeutsche Allgemeine.

Wagenknecht said unconditional support for Ukraine, the excessive buildup of Bundeswehr weapons, the dangerous new paradigm of "combat readiness," and talk of the Bundeswehr becoming Europe's strongest conventional army are all counterproductive measures.
Call for diplomacy
She said Germany should instead focus on diplomacy and arms control. Wagenknecht had previously said that resolving the conflict in Ukraine requires taking into account the security interests of all sides, including Russia.
