Businessman Victor Angobaldo lost his life in a road accident in Cañete on August 5, sparking emotional tributes across the entertainment industry. The news of his death caused widespread shock throughout the community known as Chollywood.

Hours after the fatal accident was confirmed, former Sport Boys cheerleader and model Shirley Cherres expressed her grief on social media. She shared a photograph on Instagram from a past hospital visit alongside a tribute recalling the bond that united them after they began a high-profile romantic relationship in 2018.
In her Instagram stories, Cherres stated that she could not believe he had left and that her heart was broken into a thousand pieces. Remembering the popular figure known as Chocolatito, she noted that he had served as her boss, her friend, and her partner. She added that he would always live in her heart, thanking him for his love, crazy moments, and nobility, while stating that she would miss him greatly and wishing him rest in peace.

Hospital reunion and kidney illness
Although their romantic relationship came to an end, Cherres and Angobaldo maintained a close friendship over the years. In early 2023, while Angobaldo was hospitalized, he issued a public call asking to see Cherres during a broadcast of Magaly Medina's television program.
Cherres responded to the request by traveling to the Alberto Barron Hospital Complex to visit him during his admission. The emotional reunion following their public romance featured a strong embrace between the pair as Angobaldo received treatment for a delicate kidney disease.
During that visit, Angobaldo expressed his happiness, stating that Cherres had been his friend for many years and noting that true friendships reveal themselves during difficult times. Cherres affirmed that she never stopped worrying about her former partner, explaining that she maintained constant communication and called him every day to check on his health and offer help.
