A Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet crashed on Monday in the Odesa region, Ukraine's air force announced, saying the pilot ejected in time and was taken to hospital.

According to an update posted on Telegram, the MiG-29 was carrying out a mission to strike Russian forces' positions when a malfunction occurred during the launch of a missile. The malfunction triggered a fire on board and the pilot lost control of the aircraft.
Pilot ejected safely
Ukraine's air force said the pilot abandoned the aircraft using the ejection mechanism. He was located and taken to hospital, the air force said.
