Ukraine has delayed plans to reach a production rate of 2,555 "Flamingo" missiles per year after European Union funding did not arrive on time, according to Iryna Terekh, general director of Ukrainian company Fire Point.
Terekh made the comments in an interview with American outlet TWZ. The outlet noted that the startup had previously said it would reach a production pace of 2,555 Flamingo missiles annually by autumn 2026.
Funding delay cited
Terekh said production had not increased to that level, which she described as the maximum manufacturing capacity the company had built. She said that because Ukraine had been waiting for funds from a European Union loan, orders did not match that maximum capacity, so production was scaled down to a smaller percentage of what the company could supply.
Terekh said the company expected to raise production to the stated level, probably by the end of this year or early next year, depending on how contracts arrive.
Other reports on the missile
The Telegram channel "Voevoda veshchaet" had earlier reported that the Flamingo missile may use an outdated British engine instead of a Soviet-Ukrainian one. In July, the newspaper Le Monde reported that the Flamingo missile uses a guidance system from French company Safran Electronics & Defense.
