Ugreen has introduced the MagFlow Pro, a magnetic power bank that the manufacturer says is the first in the world to feature a built-in micro-pump and liquid cooling system.

The device has a 10,000 mAh battery and a two-part design. It is priced at $150 in international markets.

A capacity of 10,000 mAh is generally sufficient to charge most flagship smartphones one and a half to two times before the power bank itself needs to be recharged.

The main feature of the MagFlow Pro is its ability to cool a connected smartphone while it is charging. When the thermal load increases, the internal micro-pump activates to circulate cooling fluid and draw heat away from the hottest areas of the device.

Ugreen said this mechanism is designed to reduce the risk of a smartphone overheating during intensive wireless charging.

The power bank offers wireless charging speeds of up to 25 watts. It also includes a built-in USB-C cable capable of delivering 45 watts, along with a separate USB-C port that supports the same maximum power output.

The MagFlow Pro is compatible with several fast charging standards, including Power Delivery 3.0, Quick Charge 4.0, and Programmable Power Supply.

Power Delivery and Quick Charge are industry protocols that allow mobile devices to negotiate power levels with a charger, ensuring the fastest safe charging speed. Programmable Power Supply allows the power bank to modify its voltage and current in real time.

Managing heat during wireless charging

Liquid cooling systems are traditionally found in high-performance desktop computers and dedicated gaming smartphones to manage the substantial heat generated by powerful processors. Shrinking this technology to fit inside a portable battery accessory represents a novel approach to mobile accessory design.

Wireless charging relies on electromagnetic induction to transfer power, a process that naturally generates waste heat. This heat can sometimes cause smartphones to throttle their charging speeds to protect internal components, or lead to the long-term degradation of the device battery.

Ugreen is a consumer electronics manufacturer known for producing digital accessories, including cables, hubs and portable power solutions.
