The American e-commerce giant Amazon announced on Tuesday a reorganization in the United Kingdom which implies the closure of three distribution centers that employ 1,00 people, but with a plan to open another two plants with 2,500 workers.
Amazon “initiated consultations on the proposal to close three distribution centers in 2023” Y “It plans to open two new centers, creating 2,500 new jobs in the next three years”reported the company in a statement sent to AFP.
The plan to close three warehouses affects 1,200 employees at the Hemel Hempstead centers near London, central Doncaster and Gourock, which is in Scotland.

But the company affirms that the employees will have the opportunity to be transferred to other distribution centers of the company that has 30 warehouses in the country.
The new sites will open near Birmingham in the west and in Durham in the north.
This reorganization is unrelated to Amazon’s announcement last week that it will cut 18,000 jobs worldwide, a company spokesman said.
