Media journalists made this assumption against the background of a list of vacancies at Microsoft that have appeared on the network. Among others, it included a job offer for “Director of SoC Architecture.” The attention of the authors was attracted by the fact that the specialist will have to take one of the leadership positions in the Surface division, which works on the production of computers.

“Some of the responsibilities suggest that perhaps Microsoft wants to develop its own processor,” the journalists noted. According to experts, the American company may follow the example of Apple, which abandoned Intel processors in its devices and successfully switched to ARM chips of its own production.

According to the authors, developing your own processor could be an important step for a corporation. Such a chip could be better optimized for the specific hardware used in the company’s devices. “In this case, engineers can customize the chip according to specific needs and goals,” the note says.

In April, reports emerged that Google’s next flagship smartphones would be powered by the company’s own processor. The current smartphones of the American company of the Pixel series are equipped with processors from Qualcomm.
