Ecuador will participate in the Copa América de Futsal, which opens this Saturday in Asunción

Group A of the competition, which was to be held in Brazil, is made up of, in addition to the tricolor, the teams from Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Uruguay.

Asunción will be, from this Saturday and until next February 6, headquarters of the Copa America Futsal 2022, which was initially going to be played in Brazil, but was transferred to the Paraguayan capital due to the health restrictions in force in that country.

The selections of Peru Y Venezuela will meet in the opening match, on a day that includes commitments between Chile Y Colombia, Argentina Y Bolivia, and which will conclude with the clash between the great favorite, Brazil, Y Ecuador.

Brazil is the current champion and leader in competition statistics, after having lifted the cup ten times out of the fourteen that have been played since 1992.

Argentina, which is now the runner-up, has won the tournament twice.

The competition, which will take place at the SND Arena sports center in Asunción, brings together ten teams divided into two groups.

Series A is made up of Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay; while Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela and Paraguay are part of group B.

In the first group stage, each team will face their teammates from the series.

The first two teams will advance to the semifinals, in which the first of each key will be measured against the second of the other series.

In the final phase, matches for ninth, seventh and fifth place, the semifinals, third place and the final will be played.

The 2019 Futsal America Cup, which was to be held in the Chilean city of Los Angeles, was suspended by Conmebol due to the social unrest that was shaking that country at the time.

This time, the competition will be marked by the pandemic, which in Paraguay has already left 559,906 infected and 17,176 deceased, according to the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare of the South American country.
