During a plane crash in Washington, 11 skaters died
The US Figure Skating Association on its page on the social network X called the exact number of athletes who died in Washington.
The list of the deceased included 11 active skaters – Angela Young, Sean Kay, Briel Bayer, Cori Hainos, Edward Zhou, Everli and Alidiya Livingston, Franco Aparisio, General Khan, Olivia Ter, Spencer Line. In addition, 17 coaches and members of their families died.
On January 30, it became known that in the United States, after a collision with a military helicopter, the passenger aircraft of the American Airlines crashed. There were 14 skaters on board, including former Russian and Soviet athletes. In particular, Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, who became 1994 world champions in paired skating in the Russian national team.
Athletes returned home from the National Figure Skating Development camp in Wichito.
