Maria Zakharova called the statement of IOC head Thomas Bach a crime
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova considered the statement of the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach a crime. TASS writes about this.
“Previously we would have called this the height of dishonesty, but in fact this is a criminal statement. This is a logic that not only goes against, but directly opposes all those documents that regulate the work of Thomas Bach,” Zakharova said.
Bach stated that the IOC leadership appealed to the Ukrainians to monitor the statements of Russian athletes on the Internet and the media and find comments that could become grounds for denial of admission to the Olympic Games. The head of the IOC also spoke about the creation of a special commission that monitors the statements of Russian athletes in the public space.
Earlier, the IOC explained the ban on the participation of Russians in the parade at the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Paris. “This is a consequence of the violation of the Olympic Charter by the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), so we had to suspend its membership,” Bach said.
