Group C matches consisting of Palmeiras from Brazil, Barcelona SC, Cerro Porteño from Paraguay and Bolívar from Bolivia will begin on April 5.

The Brazilians are visiting the Bolivians, and the Canaries will compete against the popular Paraguayan club in Asunción.

The Brazilian press has analyzed the key in which Verdao is located, where they believe that there are no easy rivals.

After the draw, many already said that Verdao was lucky and that only weaker opponents await them, Torcedores portal writes in a note.

“In the last three years, in which Palmeiras won two Libertadores and reached the semi-finals, the big “complaint” of the rivals was that Alviverde was lucky and was just weak, especially in the group stage. With this, Abel Ferreira’s team managed to have a quiet first phase, finish in first place in the overall standings and decide at home in the round of 16,” the note added.

In it, they question whether the Ecuadorians and Paraguayans are really “weak” and recall 2017, when the Toreadors eliminated Palmeiras on penalties, and Santos reached the semi-finals.

“But are the opponents really that weak this year? Some say that Barcelona and Hill are not easy, with Bolívar having tremendous height. For example, Barcelona from Ecuador eliminated Palmeiras in 2017. That year they did the same with Santos and reached the semi-finals,” the page states.

“For example, Barcelona made a big Libertadores in 2021. He was first in the group that included Boca Juniors and Santos. In the round of 16, they eliminated Vélez-ARG and Fluminense, and reached the semi-finals again, when they were defeated by Flamengo,” the portal concluded. (D)
