The Russian Football Union (RFU) plans to reapply to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The words of RFU President Alexander Dyukov are reported by RIA Novosti.

The RFU plans to appeal the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to remove Russian teams from international tournaments in the 2022/2023 season. “We do not agree with this decision, we will send an appropriate appeal,” Dyukov said. He noted that the appeal concerns only the matches of the national teams.

Earlier, Dynamo, CSKA, Zenit and Sochi decided to apply to CAS. The clubs requested an expedited review of the complaint. Lawyer Andriy Timchuk called the chances of teams to appeal the UEFA decision not very high.

On May 2, UEFA decided on the participation of Russian teams in tournaments in the 2022/2023 season. Russian football clubs were suspended from European competitions, and the national team was expelled from the League of Nations. UEFA also rejected Russia’s bid to host the 2028 and 2032 European Football Championships.
