A Slovak police officer has been charged with negligence after a fatal school stabbing in the north-western village of Staskov.
Slovak news portal Aktuality reported that the officer faces criminal prosecution after failing to act on detailed warning signs regarding an aggressive student prior to the attack.
According to the news report, the officer possessed detailed information about the 13-year-old student's aggressive conduct and was legally obligated to implement preventive measures to stop the tragedy from occurring.
The eighth-grade pupil carried out the knife attack inside the school on 29 September, attacking two female teachers and a young schoolgirl.
A 61-year-old senior teacher suffered fatal injuries during the assault. A second teacher, aged 44, was taken to hospital with a severe knife wound to her chest, where medical personnel later managed to stabilize her condition.
The injured schoolgirl was rushed to hospital and remains in critical condition. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was detained at the scene, though investigators noted that his motives for the attack are not yet known.
