Heavy metal band Slipknot has officially parted ways with turntablist Sid Wilson after 28 years, following an official announcement posted by Knotfest.

Slipknot Ends Collaboration With Sid Wilson After 28 Years

Heavy metal band Slipknot has officially announced the end of its collaboration with long-time member Sid Wilson after nearly three decades with the group.

The American band confirmed the departure of the 49-year-old musician in a statement published on Friday, August 14, through the official social media account of Knotfest, the music festival affiliated with Slipknot.

In the announcement, the group stated that as of that moment, Slipknot would no longer be associated with Wilson, while wishing him the best in his future professional endeavors. The formal confirmation followed an earlier post by Slipknot announcing his exit, which the band had subsequently deleted.

Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998 as the ninth member of the lineup, shortly before the release of the band's self-titled debut album in 1999. He remained with the heavy metal group for 28 years, serving as its turntablist.

Official Announcement and Exit Details

News of Wilson's departure from the group began circulating earlier in the month. According to a report by celebrity news outlet TMZ, his exit followed a long-standing situation within the band, as the remaining members had allegedly reached their limit regarding his behavior toward them.

Wilson has not publicly commented on his departure from Slipknot since the announcement was made.

Recent Personal Life Changes

The split from the band comes just a few months after news emerged that Wilson had ended his engagement to English media personality Kelly Osbourne.

The couple had been together for four years and share a three-year-old son named Sidney.

Formed in Des Moines, Iowa, Slipknot became one of the most prominent heavy metal acts of the late 1990s and 2000s, known for their aggressive musical style, elaborate stage masks, and energetic live performances.

Knotfest, the platform used to release the official statement, is an international music festival created by Slipknot in 2012 to showcase heavy metal and rock bands alongside interactive fan experiences.
