Greek singer Dimitris Kokotas has died at the age of 57 following a long battle in intensive care in Athens. He passed away at the Georgios Gennimatas General Hospital on August 25, 2026, after remaining hospitalized for more than two years.
The musician had been in hospital since March 2024, when he suffered an acute myocardial infarction and cardiac arrest. The sudden medical emergency occurred while he was on set filming for the television music show Just The Two Of Us.
Hospital authorities at Georgios Gennimatas released an official medical bulletin confirming that Kokotas passed away at 3:30 pm on August 25, 2026. The hospital administration stated that he died following an extended battle in the intensive care unit and expressed sincere condolences to his family and relatives.

Kokotas was married and leaves behind a 15-year-old daughter. He was the son of the famous Greek singer Stamatis Kokotas, who was a landmark figure in traditional Greek laiko music during the late 20th century.

Following the musical career path of his father, Kokotas established a prominent presence in Greek discography, particularly during the 1990s. Throughout his career, he released several solo albums, performed extensively at night clubs and live music stages, and collaborated with respected composers, lyricists, and fellow vocalists.
Among his popular recordings was the song Anemona, a track he almost did not record, while his father was celebrated for classic hits including Gie Mou. Kokotas made his final stage performance during his appearance on Just The Two Of Us shortly before his hospitalization.

In his final television interview, broadcast two days before his heart attack in March 2024, Kokotas had reflected on his career, stating that he felt as if he were starting from scratch.
