Two people, including a child, died due to severe weather in the Russian city of Smolensk, city head Alexander Novikov reported on the Max messaging app.

A child died after a tree fell in Solovinyaya Roshcha Park during the peak of the storm, Novikov said. A woman was also killed in Lopatinsky Garden, though the official did not specify how she died.
Emergency response in Smolensk
Novikov stated that all city services were put on an enhanced operating schedule because of the severe weather conditions.
The storm in Smolensk follows bad weather in late July that left more than 100 settlements in the Rostov Oblast without power.
