The agency published the update on Tuesday, Aug. 4. Federal officials have offered no explanation for the consecutive changes made to the release timeline of the Bad Boy Records founder.

The scheduled release date for Combs has shifted multiple times. The Federal Bureau of Prisons previously listed prospective dates of April 15, 2028, April 25, 2028, and June 4, 2028, before adjusting the date to Feb. 23, 2028, in June. A social media report published by People magazine stated that the date change followed a reported prison fight.

Sentence details and legal appeal

Combs received a 50 month prison sentence following a federal trial in New York, where he was found guilty on two counts of transportation of persons for the purpose of prostitution. Jurors acquitted him of more serious charges, which included sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

Combs is currently participating in a substance abuse rehabilitation program at FCI Fort Dix. Meanwhile, his legal team continues to appeal both his conviction and his sentence, with his lawyers describing the punishment as excessive and asking for an acquittal or resentencing.
