National Court Judge Santiago Pedraz rejected prosecutor Ignacio Stampa from joining the PSOE illegal operations case as an injured party. Pedraz ruled that an alleged bribery attempt against Stampa is already under investigation in a separate Madrid court.
The judge stated that the alleged bribery attempt involving former Socialist activist Leire Díez and businessman Javier Pérez Dolset is being investigated by Judge Arturo Zamarriego in Court of Instruction Number 9 of Madrid. Pedraz noted that those proceedings are not yet consolidated with the National Court case, despite requesting two months ago that Zamarriego transfer the case to unify the proceedings.
Stampa argued in his filing that Pedraz previously cited him in court rulings as one of the target lines of action of the alleged plot. He stated that Díez and Pérez Dolset met with him on May 7, 2025, and Díez later called him by telephone on May 22, 2025.
Bribery Attempt and Prosecutorial Inquiries
According to the case file, Díez and Pérez Dolset offered Stampa professional incentives, including a return to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Office, and personal assistance with a pending lawsuit. Stampa stated that Díez and Pérez Dolset questioned him about potential irregularities involving Anti-Corruption Chief Prosecutor Alejandro Luzón, former Anti-Corruption Prosecutor José Grinda, and retired Magistrate Manuel García-Castellón.
Stampa also urged the court to consider a complaint that Pérez Dolset filed against him with the State General Attorney Office. The complaint alleged that Stampa committed multiple crimes while leading the Villarejo case investigation.
Stampa revealed that in June he requested a copy of the complaint from the Prosecutorial Inspection to prepare legal action. He said he received no documents, later learning that the complaint was archived without him ever being named a suspect.
Defamation Claims and Jurisdiction Arguments
Stampa accused Pérez Dolset of publicly slandering him on a television program. He said Dolset falsely accused him of concealing evidence, violating document custody, failing to prosecute crimes, and accepting bribes, in an effort to damage his professional reputation and frame him as part of what Dolset called the system mafia.
Stampa is seeking to bring criminal charges against Díez and Dolset for criminal organization, an offense already included in the case. He requested that Pedraz take his witness testimony, arguing that the National Court holds jurisdiction over actions intended to destabilize judicial and police investigations affecting the Socialist Party and the personal and political circle of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
Stampa asked the court to download official recordings of the meeting at the office of former Sacyr president Luis del Rivero and the phone conversation with Díez. He noted that in the separate court directed by Zamarriego, he holds the status of corruption whistleblower.
Forensic Verification of Audio Files
Stampa commissioned a forensic expert report that denied claims by Díez and Pérez Dolset that the recording of their meeting was manipulated. The examination also concluded that the recording of the May 22 phone call with Díez was not edited or partially deleted.
The report concluded that both audio files are authentic and intact based on technical parameters, file durations, internal logic structures, metadata analysis, and overall consistency.
